Fun Fact
They are one of the top 10 fastest dog breeds. The Vizsla's ancestors were probably brought to Hungary by the Magyars more than 1,000 years ago. Its name means “searcher” or “tracker” in Hungarian. There is a piece of artwork dating back to the 10th century that features a Magyar tribesman, his falcon and a dog that closely resembles the look of a Vizsla. The first written reference to the Vizsla dog breed has been recorded in the Illustrated Vienna Chronicle prepared on order of King Louis I of Hungary by the Carmelite Friars in 1357.
