Fun Fact
Portuguese Water Dogs were originally used to herd fish into nets and retrieve broken nets and tackle that fell overboard. The Portuguese Water Dog is believed to have originated on the central Asiatic steppes around 700 BC. On January 1, 1984, the Portuguese Water Dog was accepted into the working group by the American Kennel Club.
