Fun Fact
One of the oldest domesticated dogs in recorded history, Pharaoh hounds date back to ancient Egypt. Historians believe that seafaring traders brought hound dogs with them as they sailed the Mediterranean some 2,500 years ago. Pharaoh hounds were named the national dog of the country of Malta with a special silver coin minted in 1977.
