| Kennelwood's Personal Trainer, Dave van Garderen and his dog, Stewart, win National Competition | Dave van Garderen and his dog, Stewart, a Belgian Malinois, won the DVG Schutzhund I National Competition. The competition is composed of 3 disciplines; tracking, obedience and protection, with each phase worth 100 points. Dave and Stewart received 97 points in tracking, 91 in obedience and 92 points in protection for a combined score of 280 which was 11 points higher than the 2nd place finisher.
This trial was a 5 day event, held this year in Orlando, Fla., with a total entry of 46 participants from all over the Country and Canada. There were 9 Schutzhund I entries, 9 Schutzhund II, and 28 Schutzhund III participants. The winner of the Schutzhund III competition will be representing the DVG Clubs of America at the Championship in Germany in September.
Dave and Stewart also compete in AKC events. Stewart currently holds titles for CGC/TDI, CD, and CDX.
Congratulations to Dave and Stewart on the win! This made several years of hard work and diligent training worth it. Dave and Stewart will be working very hard upon return to St. Louis to achieve Schutzhund II title in the fall.
