Kennelwood Pet Resorts is proud to announce a new addition to the pet training family: Next STEPS: – Start To Educate Pet Safety. Next STEPS was designed to introduce children to pet safety and give pet parents the insights to help their canine companions become enjoyable, life-long family members. As a continuation of Baby Steps, a training course that focuses on familiarizing pets and babies, Next STEPS was created for children ages 3 months to 6 years.
The Next STEPS course provides families with information about the benefits of having pets in the home, how to avoid a bite, pet safety for children, and other important tips. Since most dog bites occur by a known pet, a lack of proper training, bringing a new pet into the home, or visiting another pet’s household can be a risky situation.
“My two main goals are to prevent even one child from the trauma and damage of a dog bite, and to prevent dogs from entering the shelter system due to a lack of training,” said Sue Schulze, Kennelwood Pet Resorts Head Trainer. “Next STEPS provides parents the necessary information to avoid those types of incidents.”
