November 11 ( 2008) Naughty or nice…which list will your pet be on? Find out as we celebrate the annual tradition of “Santa Comes to the Pets!” For 28 years, Kennelwood clients have anticipated this spectacular family event. “Santa Comes to the Pets” is a photo opportunity for pets to have their picture taken with Santa. Photo sessions are scheduled at four of Kennelwood’s six convenient locations.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Stray Rescue was founded by Randy Grim in 1998. Stray Rescue is a search and rescue operation dedicated to saving the lives of the homeless dogs and cats living on the city streets. The organization has grown rapidly and offers 12 programs for the benefit of companion animals. Stray Rescue is a no-kill operation, which operates two small shelters with over 240 dogs and 100 cats up for adoption. The vast majority of the dogs, as well as, cats are cared for in foster homes and are available for adoption via Stray Rescue’s website, www.strayrescue.org or at weekly adoption events. Randy Grim has worked tirelessly on behalf of companion animals and has been able to change legislation, close down gas chambers and is known for his feral dog rehabilitation skills. Stray Rescue recently won the Zootoo $1Million shelter makeover contest and plans to open its new shelter in April of 2009.
Not only will a portion of the proceeds of “Santa Comes to the Pets” benefit a great organization, but the photos will be taken by award-winning photographer Greg Smith of Garden Studios. Greg snaps captivating pet photos that make this project enchanting. He has photographed big dogs, little dogs, cats, rabbits, pigs, mice, snakes, and yes, even once a horse! Photo packages begin at $27.00. There are a variety of packages available including 8x10’s, wallet-sized photos and holiday greeting cards, which are a tradition with many customers. You can also order calendars, key chains and photo ornaments.
