    Job Description
    This is a unique opportunity to come in at entry level and work your way up to grooming full-time! You will be trained by our styling school instructor one-on-one or through small group instruction during a comprehensive, paid, 14-week stylist course after proving yourself as a groom tech. Students are tested weekly on breed standards, balance and structure, customer service, and basic health issues of the pet, as well as other topics. Safe grooming skills are taught and emphasized. All-breed “hand scissoring” finishes are also taught, techniques which are not always included in many grooming schools. Must be kind, compassionate, hard-working, and reliable. Fast-paced, fun environment. Previous knowledge of dog breeds and handling is a plus!

    Styling School Instructor bio: Our styling school instructor has been a stylist for 34 years and owned and operated her own shop for14 years. She has attended numerous seminars and received certificates for advanced and new techniques in the grooming industry. She is certified in Animal CPR and as a Pet Care Technician through the Pet Care Services Association. She has been teaching styling at Kennelwood for over 7 years.

    Experienced Stylist (Pet Groomer)

    Job Description

    This position supports the company through the grooming services of animal clientele, a minimum of 6 months prior pet grooming experience is required. Most Stylists are Kennelwood-trained professionals that began their careers as Grooming Technicians and have advanced through our Stylist in Training program.

    They provide haircuts, trims, styles and other salon-services to guests, as requested. Their primary responsibilities include providing quality care with a sharp instinct for animal safety, proper procedure and aesthetics. In addition, Stylists maintain client histories, work with Grooming Technicians, and assure that the customer is delighted with the Kennelwood experience.

    It is essential that all are able to regularly stand for extended periods, lift at least 40 pounds, bend, stretch and work in and around pet hair and dander. Stylists must understand the character and habits of many different breeds. They must also be aware of the appearance standards, especially for show pets that are required to conform to very specific breed standards. This position at Kennelwood can be very rewarding for pet lovers. There is the opportunity to showcase artistic creativity and individual style.

    Earn while you learn to groom! This position supports the company through grooming services of animal clientele. Groom techs should have the ability to work both independently and on a team. Primary responsibilities include prepping guests for styling sessions, bathing and brushing, nail-care, and overall aesthetics – while working in an organized, hygienic manner.

    Grooming Technicians should have a keen instinct for animal safety, proper procedure and loving commitment for the pets. It is essential that all are able to regularly stand for extended periods, lift at least 40 pounds, bend, stretch and work in and around pet hair and dander.     All newly hired Grooming Technicians are required to complete the Grooming Technicians in Training Program. This is a two-week PAID training period where the basics of pet grooming are taught by our expert staff at Kennelwood. Training topics include:

    • Pet handling procedures
    • Bathing techniques
    • Clipping and filing of nails
    • Brushing teeth
    • Sanitation and sterilization of equipment
    • Proper ear cleaning
    • Anal gland expression

    INCREASE YOUR EARNINGS POTENTIAL! Grooming Technicians that show excellent job performance and wish to advance their careers, skills and abilities may become a candidate for Kennelwood's Stylist in Training Program. In an effort to advance employee's careers and offer greater opportunities, the Stylist in Training Program was created. It is a paid 14-week program which is taught by our highly knowledgeable grooming instructors at Kennelwood. Students will have exposure to over 100 AKC recognized dog breeds, and fundamental grooming skills will be enhanced with advanced training in scissoring techniques. The majority of Kennelwood's current Stylists started off as Grooming Technicians who have worked their way up after successfully completing the Stylist in Training Program.

    Pet Resort (Boarding) Attendant

    Job Description

    This position supports the company through the Pet Resort functions, assuring that every guest has a quality experience and receives quality care, time and attention during his/her stay at the Pet Resort. Hotel attendants ensure that food, water, medications and treats are given regularly. In addition, all guests’ areas are cleaned and sanitized. Attendants also ensure that animal guests have appropriate activities, exercise and potty breaks.

    All should be enthusiastic, able to multi-task and ensure customers - both internal and external - are delighted with their Kennelwood experience. A keen instinct for animal safety, proper procedure and loving commitment for the pets is also required. It is essential all are able to regularly stand for extended periods, able to walk dogs of all sizes on a leash, occasionally lift at least 40 pounds, bend, stretch and work in and around pet hair and dander. Prior experience in a veterinarian's office or hands-on work environment pet care is a PLUS!

    Pet Activities Counselor

    Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, FT. 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, PT.
    All Pet Activities Counselor shifts include some holidays and weekends.

    Job Description

    This position supports the company through pet activities functions, assuring that every guest has a quality experience and receives all Personalized Playtime (PPT) and DayCamp activities scheduled. Pet Activity Counselors will ensure that guests have breed and size-appropriate activities. All should be enthusiastic, able to multi-task and ensure customers - both internal and external - are delighted with their Kennelwood experience.

    A keen instinct for animal safety, proper procedure and loving commitment for the pets is also required. It is essential all are able to regularly stand for extended periods, able to walk dogs of all sizes on a leash, occasionally lift at least 40 pounds, bend, stretch and work in and around pet hair and dander. Must also be very observant, have strong decision-making skills and be able to work in all weather conditions, plus able to work in and around pet hair and dander. Prior experience in a veterinarian's office or hands-on work pet care environment is a PLUS.

    Customer Service Representative

    All Customer Service Representative shifts include holidays and weekends.

    Job Description

    This position supports the company through customer service functions, including being the first point of contact for customer reservations, front desk reception, customer concerns and cash handling. Customer Service reps will obtain special pet handling requirements and make sure medical records are accurate and updated. All should be enthusiastic, able to multi-task and ensure customers – both internal and external are delighted with their Kennelwood experience.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable team-oriented individual that is able to work under pressure and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Must have a keen instinct for animal safety, proper procedure and loving commitment for the pets. It is essential all are able to regularly stand for extended periods, able to walk dogs of all sizes on a leash, occasionally lift at least 40 pounds, bend, stretch and work in and around pet hair and dander.

    This position requires excellent customer service, communication, and telephone skills, plus a strong desire to grow and learn with the company. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience working with computers in customer service, sales or pet care is helpful.
